Dog breeds that shed very little

Breeds with minimal shedding and little drooling, for people who don't want hair everywhere.

No dog is truly hypoallergenic: the allergen is a protein in saliva and dander, not the hair itself. What does vary enormously is how much hair they drop, and that changes daily life at home.

Watch out for a common confusion: shedding little does not mean needing less grooming. Many of these breeds need frequent brushing and a trim every few months, precisely because the dead hair doesn't fall out on its own and mats instead.
